Taste of Freedom

A disgraced Michelin-starred chef must teach a group of wildly funny teenage outsiders to cook in a juvenile detention centre, thinking it is his easiest way back from prison. Until he discovers that freedom is the hardest recipe to learn.

Adam Svoboda was once the star of Czech gastronomy: brilliant, charismatic and impossible to work with. After his restaurant wins a Michelin star, mix of pressure, burnout and alcohol lead to a fatal car accident and a prison sentence. Offered a shortcut back to freedom, Adam takes a job in the kitchen of a juvenile detention centre, convinced it will be the easiest way out. But instead of quietly serving time, he is forced to teach cooking to a group of troubled but wildly funny teenage misfits and prepare them for their final vocational exams. The kids answer his fine-dining arrogance with chaos, sabotage and brutal honesty, while old-school master Hrdlička defends his kingdom of routine and low expectations. Adam came to the institution to escape. To get out, he must keep the group together, rediscover the craft he has grown to hate, and learn that freedom is not running away from guilt, but taking responsibility for others and for himself.
