Fifteen-year-old Olga moves to a quiet Scandinavian town with her mother, joining her father who works abroad. Her depression — deep, unexplained, present long before the move — was the real reason for the relocation, though no one says so aloud. School goes well, but it's Doro, a magnetic, dark new friend, who truly reaches her. Their bond deepens fast: Olga stops eating properly, sleeps in fragments, and finds strange marks spreading across her skin. She suspects Doro is a vampire, quietly feeding on her — yet can't bring herself to pull away. Only Olga's twelve-year-old sister senses something is wrong, though no one believes a child's instincts over a teenager's obvious happiness.
