I Am Going to Change the World
A lonely 12-year-old girl, struggling with the loss of her father and an absent mother, clashes with neighbourhood boys in her quest for justice but when the young boy she cares for gets lost in underground tunnels, she must risk everything to save him and rethink how she sees the world.
After losing her dad, 12‑year‑old Luka feels extremely lonely. She rebels against her mom, who is constantly busy at work and has too little time for her daughter. Luka tries to create her own “little family”, caring for 7‑year‑old Rokas and her neighbor’s dog, Bulka. They are her only friends. Luka avoids the neighborhood kids, whose games seem too rough for her. She sees a great deal of injustice in her environment and tries to fight it. While trying to rescue Rokas after he gets lost, she ends up in a network of underground tunnels, where she becomes disoriented and faces real danger. Once they’re out safely, Luka realises that she has to let Rokas go so he can begin his new life. She reconciles with her mom and understands that if she want to change the world, she has to begin by changing herself.
