Ninjana

By day, Nina – a quiet outsider in a Norwegian mountain village. By night, Ninjana – a razor-sharp ninja warrior in a bunad, armed with silver brooches and a legacy passed down from the world's greatest ninja master, her grandfather Takumi. Two cultures. One superhero. No one else like her.

Ninjana is a live-action/animation hybrid family adventure with a core audience of children aged 8–12.

Twelve-year-old Nina lives with her grandmother in a small cabin high in the mountains of Setesdal, Norway. After losing her parents in an avalanche, the mountains are both the place she loves most — and the source of her deepest fear.

At school, Nina is bullied and struggles to fit in. But no one knows her secret. When she puts on her traditional Norwegian bunad, she becomes Ninjana — a fearless ninja who protects her mountain village, armed with razor-sharp silver brooches.

At the heart of Ninjana is an unexpected meeting of two cultures: the traditions of Setesdal and the ninja legacy of Japan. Nina’s Japanese grandfather was one of the greatest ninjas who ever lived, while her grandmother has passed that legacy on to Nina.

When the mountain once again threatens the village, Nina must face the fear that has shaped her entire childhood. To save Valle, she chooses to risk everything for the very people who have bullied her, excluded her, and even taken credit for her actions.

But this is not only a story about becoming Ninjana. It’s also about Nina learning to stand up for herself — and discovering that Nina is more than good enough.
