In the small mining town of Orkanger in Norway, 12-year-old Lita Deinboll lives a simple life with her family and her pet pig, Gisle. Growing up in the shadow of the local mines, her world is turned upside down when her village is invaded by military forces in 1940. As the mines fall under foreign control and her beloved older brother joins the resistance, Lita is drawn into the realities of war. What begins with small acts—smuggling food for prisoners and delivering messages—soon becomes a journey of courage and resilience for a young girl. Forced to flee, Lita’s path takes her to Stockholm and London, where she works alongside resistance fighters and faces the dangers of espionage and bombing raids. Through loss and hope, Lita discovers that even the smallest person can make a difference.
