Magda dreams beyond her small-town life, supported only by her boyfriend, Samuel, as she aspires to become a singer. Her unusually low voice garners only pity until a humiliating church choir audition leads to a Marian revelation. Suddenly, she’s a local celebrity, balancing the sacred and profane, unsure if she’s Madonna of MTV or of the church. Fame blinds her, but a brain tumor diagnosis—possibly causing her visions—throws her world into turmoil. Her grandmother forbids her from revealing the truth, leaving Magda isolated.
