MILK THEETH

Seven stories about the challenges of childhood and growing up. The protagonists of these stories are kids, boys and girls, from ages 6 to 14.
We follow our heroes from the moment their first milk teeth fall out to the loss of their last baby tooth, symbolizing entering into the world of adulthood. Every story is a world of its own, following the main characters in the painful traumas of growing up caused and maintained by numerous sources of totalitarianism in children’s lives: different institutions, school, church, parents, teachers and event their peers. Each story takes place in a different decade, from the 60s in the 20th century, through to the 80s, 90s and up to present day. Milk teeth are connected by the first, second and the last story. Milk teeth form a kind of collage of children’s fears, wishes, and hopes, purposely told in different genres, crafted by perhaps the best young Serbian writer of today ,Lana Bastašić, whose book already have the wide international recognition.
