10year-old Emma is furious: her parents dump her in a remote summer camp full of annoying kids. Her only comfort is a Kasperli puppet – her one and only friend. Kasperli secretly comes to life to help Emma escape a mean prank – leading them to uncover a dark secret: the grumpy cook, Mrs. Schmutz, is a witch planning to shrink all the kids into playmates for her tiny troll-son Minggeli. Emma runs away, but adventure-loving Kasperli convinces her to return and save the others. When the witch captures Kasperli, Emma teams up with her anxious new friend Mia. As Emma experiences real friendship for the first time, Kasperli fears being replaced. Only by joining forces do the three manage to outwit the witch – through planes crashing into puddings, clever disguises and smart traps. In the end, Emma proves to Kasperli that he’ll always be her best friend; while discovering she’s capable of real connections too. A heartwarming, anarchic tale of courage, friendship, and the power of imagination.
