Goodbye, Anne

Nora, a ten-year-old girl, spends the summer at a campsite with her mother, Carmen, after the sudden death of her father. There, she meets Anne, a Dutch girl who fascinates her. Nora starts to lie to hide her recent loss, but this eventually puts her new friendship at risk.
Ten-year-old Nora is heading on the first summer vacation since her father’s death. Her mother Carmen is ready to start fresh. Yet, Nora still feels her father’s presence. At a campsite in the Pyrenees, Nora is disappointed to find they’re staying in a new bungalow. She avoids her friends and visits their old cabin, now occupied by a Dutch family. There she meets Anne, the youngest daughter. Though initially hesitant, Nora bonds with Anne and becomes captivated by her father Leonard. Nora tells Anne her father is abroad. The lie grows while they spend time together and form a deep friendship. As Carmen works extra shifts, the emotional gap between mother and daughter widens and Nora finds comfort in Anne’s family, especially Leonard. When Nora’s fragile story begins to crumble, Anne returns home. Nora will try to say goodbye but fails. Carmen uncovers the lies. In the final summer days, a confrontation leads to a breakthrough and mother and daughter finally face the grief they avoided.
