For Thelma

Two years after Thelma’s death, Lewis is burdened by grief and shuts everyone out. Until he meets Erjona. They relive his final trip with Thelma, a journey of connection and letting go. FOR THELMA is a story about grief, acceptance, resilience, connection, and the power of imagination to survive.
Nearly 18, Lewis is still struggling with the death of his little sister Thelma. Drowning in grief, he isolates himself—until he loses a sketchbook filled with memories and meets the 9-year-old Erjona, who returns it. She reminds him of Thelma and draws him out of his shell. Through the sketchbook, Lewis relives a secret road trip he took with Thelma. Back then, everything revolved around Thelma’s illness. Lewis wanted to see his favorite band in England, so he drove there without a license when his parents said no. Thelma, ill but determined, had hidden in the car to reach her own dream: seeing puffins on the Farne Islands. Their impulsive journey becomes an adventure, filled with strange encounters. But Thelma’s illness catches up, and Lewis must let her go. Encouraged by Erjona, two years later, Lewis returns to England, scatters Thelma’s ashes, and finishes their shared sketchbook. With a sense of relief, Lewis is ready to embrace the future, with Thelma always in his thoughts.
