Fantasylum
The made-up dog Pirate lands in a gloomy shelter for imaginary pets and desperately tries to escape from it to return to his creator Frankie.
Pirate is a dog who has it all – charming personality, green fur and a wonderful owner, 10-year-old Frankie. The dog has only one problem – he’s made-up. He’s an imaginary friend born from a boy’s drawing. Now, as Frankie nears his teens, Pirate feels rejected. After the huge fight with his creator, Pirate leaves Frankie’s room and lands in Fantasylum – a shelter for imaginary pets ruled by the sinister cat Jeerella, who forces the residents to forget about their creators. Determined to return to Frankie, Pirate teams up with Fanny, an adventurous gerbil. They overcome many imaginary challenges to let Pirate accomplish the impossible. He finally gets back to Frankie. However, Pirate realises he must set the boy free, let him grow up and form new friendships. Pirate leaves Frankie again, this time on purpose, to help Fanny save Fantasylum.
“Fantasylum” is a story about a boy’s growing up, seen through the eyes of his imaginary friend and about friendship which is real even if it’s made-up.
