A story about a friendship of this world with a touch of the another world – TV series based on Rosemarie Eichinger’s novel of the same name.

The 12 years old Emma lives alone with her father and her imaginary ghost friends in a cemetery near a small town. They live happily but one day a mourning boy shows up in the cemetery and their life changes forever. Due to being the misfit in school, Emma has troubles with her teacher and their conflict is soon followed by a childcare investigation at Emma’s place.

“Do the Dead Eat Strawberry Cake?” is a fairy-tale-like coming-of-age story about a young girl, who must come out from her inner-fantasy world only to realise that the living can offer her more than the dead. The story tells us about making friends as well as grief processing and the hardship of misfits at school. It does that with a light and funny family movie-style making it acceptable for wider audiences.
