Adopting the nickname of Black Frotte, escapes from the laundry basket in order to find the Queen of the World, at whose audience she will ask for a new sock to match. She sets out to sea in a boat made of coconut, meeting new friends along the way: the grouchy Pale Niko, the feisty Raspberry Strawberry Sock, Kubarat – the rainbow sock-poet, and the perpetually squabbling moustachioed socks Cierpislaw and Gromislaw. Unfortunately, the expedition is also full of dangers: sharks, pirates, the Giant Tyrant with an army of gloves, and Pinkerton – a professional sock hunter. The expedition leads up the stairs, hen between the stars, where fairy tale characters live, and to the very bottom of the sea, where deadly seaweed, breeds people for carbon dioxide. Looking for a second sock to match has never been so fascinating.
