Meet the selection committee

We are happy to present to you members of the Young Horizons Industry 2024 selection committee.

Selection committee – FILM

Fiona van Heemstra
Screenwriter

Fiona van Heemstra discovered her love for writing while studying for her Master’s in History at the University of Amsterdam. In 2002, she wrote her first short film. This was the start of a long and successful screenwriting career. Fiona has written scripts for multiple prizewinning series and films, both live-action and animation, including: “Jippie No More”, “Oink”, “Sing Song”, and “Pim & Pom”. Currently, Fiona is working on two feature films and a TV series.

Moritz Hemminger
Head of Sales & Acquisitions, The Playmaker

Moritz Hemminger is Head of Sales & Acquisitions at The Playmaker, an international sales company based in Munich. In this role, Moritz oversees development, sales, and acquisitions for a diverse portfolio of films. Before Playmaker, Moritz worked for ARRI and Telepool/Global Screen. Through his studies in film production at the University of Television and Film Munich, including a semester at UCLA, Moritz has gained a keen eye for global storytelling and a solid understanding of film production.

Anna Waśniewska-Gill
Producer & Partner, WONDER X

Anna Waśniewska-Gill has a broad range of experience in feature films and series. She has spent 10 years managing feature film production at TVN WBD. Last year, she joined Klaudiusz Frydrych’s Wonder group to establish a sister company, Wonder X. She develops both artistic and commercial projects. For many years, Anna has worked with Off Camera IFF in Krakow, organising script consultancy for promising writers and directors with TorinoFilmLab. She has also directed and produced documentary films on vital social issues. Anna is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA) and the Polish Film Academy. She lectures at the Lodz Film School.

Selection committee – SERIES

Marina Narishkin
Expert in the Business of Entertainment, Serial Entrepreneur, IP Brand Builder

Apart from working for the biggest French TV channel – TF1, Marina has cooperated with leading studios and IPs, such as Marvel, The Minions – NBCUniversal, Avatar and The Simpsons – Fox, Star Wars – Lucasfilm, BBC, ITV, Viacom Nickelodeon, World Cup Football, FFF, All Blacks, The Voice, The Smurfs, Haribo, Molang, and Hello Kitty, as well as blue chip partners, such as Mattel, Danone, Carrefour, Ubisoft Fifa, and Nike. Marina is also a consultancy board member for the Minister of Diversity, a founding member of Women in Toys France, and a board member of LFA (Women in Animation France). In 2024, Marina is also a mentor at médiaClub’Elles.

Tim Biedert
Production & Development Executive

Tim Biedert has enjoyed developing and implementing creative ideas since childhood. Has a great passion for unique children’s and youth series – addressed to preschoolers, schoolkids as well as young adults. He has a degree in social pedagogy, followed by a traineeship and a producer job at a TV production company. Tim has worked for Paramount for many years, developing numerous productions for its children’s TV channel – Nickelodeon – and the Paramount+ streaming service. Based in Berlin, he carries out his projects in Germany and various international markets.

Dunja Karlovšek
Editor of Children’s Shows & Media Psychologist, RTV Slovenija

Dunja Karlovšek is a media psychologist, specialising in children’s and youth content. For 10 years, she has worked for the Slovenian public broadcaster RTV Slovenija as an editor and content creator in Children and Youth’s Programmes in various areas: live-action shows, documentary portraits, and live broadcasts for young audiences. She is a member of the commission for selecting children’s films by independent producers and an active expert in all psychological matters related to TV children’s content. She also collaborates with the National Institute of Public Health of Slovenia, preparing media guidelines for kids of all ages.
