Day 2 – pitching and one-to-one meetings
It was an intensive day! 21 projects in development and works in progress were presented in front of more than 300 guests.
Traditionally, after each pitch, there is a Q&A, which is an opportunity for our experts to give feedback to the Pitching Teams. This year, we have decided to give the floor also to young experts from Poland, Estonia, and Italy. Aged from 10 to 19, the young people had a chance to ask questions and share their valuable perspectives on whether the film or series was something they would like to watch in cinema or on TV/platform. Many thanks for their input!
After the pitching, we moved to the ibis Styles Warszawa City Hotel for one-to-one meetings and the consultants’ tables. This year, the consultants/experts who shared their experience with our guests were: Marina Narishkin, marketing and IP building, Heiko Martens, scriptwriting, and Laila Lala, green filming.
The new venue for one-to-one meetings gives more room to talk about the projects. Besides the 21 projects from the pitching section, 10 more projects from a new section, Project Pool, had dedicated tables to present their ideas for films and series.
Think Tank for TV
Parallel to one-to-one meetings, there was a closed meeting for senior executives from European broadcasters, initiated by the Children’s Media Foundation: “Think Tank for TV: Facing Realities”.
Next meetings are planned for MIPJUNIOR in Cannes and the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield. Their goal is also to talk about the media in the time of growing popularity of social platforms, such as YouTube and TikTok, and about the obligation of the traditional media to make content that resonates with and engages young audiences, at the same time offering educational and socially-relevant value.
For the first time, we organised a football match to give our guests an opportunity to move as well as get to know each other better in a totally different setup. After the match, we all attended the award ceremony.
The pitching sessions were also streamed online for those of our guests who couldn’t be with us for various reasons. One of them is the recent floods in Czechia and South-West Poland. See how you can help people from the affected regions in Poland.
The 8th Young Horizons Industry takes place from 30 September to 2 October in Warsaw, Poland.
