The Lion's Shadow

Joeni is 15 and lives in the Ice Age. She’s meant to be her tribe’s dreamer, but someone else is chosen. Joeni goes on a brave journey, risking her tribe, her teacher, and even love to follow her visions and discover who she really is.
Joeni is 15 and lives 30,000 years ago in the Ice Age. She has a rare gift: prophetic dreams of animals, which she paints on hidden cave walls. She’s meant to follow Toek as the tribe’s next dreamer, but leader Eti picks her own daughter Tira instead. When Joeni dreams of mammoths and says it means a good hunt, the mission ends in disaster. Wracked with guilt, she stops dreaming. When she meets Jerrik from a southern tribe, she feels she might finally fit in. But her visions return, stronger than ever, warning her that her new friend Io is in danger. With her dream guide, a mysterious Lion Man, Joeni sets off alone on a wild dreamer’s journey. She faces fear, grief, and the truth behind her gift. In the end, Joeni finds Io, understands her calling, and returns ready to take her place as a dreamer. And maybe even find her way back to Jerrik.
