Grandma is boss

Emma (12)’s biggest role model is her grandmother (65). Grandma is the manager of a hotel in Tønsberg and dares to do everything Emma doesn’t dare; like giving lectures in front of many people. When Grandma gets cancer, December turns out to be completely different than Emma had imagined.
Emma (12) looks up to her charismatic grandmother, a hotel manager known for her inspiring speeches and strong leadership — traits Emma struggles with herself. When her grandmother suddenly falls ill and is hospitalized, Emma and her stepbrother Lucas try to support both the family and the hotel. In a misguided attempt to help, they sabotage a competing hotel, which disappoints Grandma. Hoping to reconnect, Emma finds her grandmother’s old bucket list, and together they begin ticking off small adventures. But Grandma’s condition worsens, and Emma must face her school speech — and the possibility of loss — alone. After her grandmother’s death, Emma nearly gives up. But in her memory, and inspired by one of her speeches, Emma finds the courage to stand tall — just as her grandmother would have wanted.
