Generation: NIKA

Ukrainian teens from frontline cities turn the camera on their own lives, capturing raw, resilient, and deeply personal stories of youth, war, and survival. Generation Nika is a fast-paced, visually bold series that redefines how we see conflict—through their eyes.
Generation Nika is a 10-part documentary series created with and by Ukrainian teenagers living near the front lines. Through dynamic visuals and the language of social media, they share what it means to grow up in a warzone—balancing daily life with danger, humor with loss, and creativity with trauma. Guided by Czech and Ukrainian filmmakers, the teens learn to write, direct, and shoot their own stories—whether it’s fleeing an occupied city, living in a basement, or just trying to stay normal. The result is a unique mix of fiction and reality, shaped by the voices of young people who refuse to be silent. Shot mostly by the participants themselves, the series offers an unfiltered, emotionally powerful perspective on coming of age in extraordinary circumstances. It’s not just about war—it’s about youth that won’t be stolen.
